Skill Bank Challenge
Some of our kaladalan members had submitted Mothi Aai's sketch to our blog and I admired their work. They had drawn Her sketch so beautifully that i thought of doing something similar some day. This was just like the many creative projects which I plan to do and they remain pending (forever).
Within a few days, all of a sudden I was challenged to draw Mothi Aai's sketch! This was a part of the skill bank challenge. Now there was no escape and I also felt the need to try. Mothi Aai's murti from shgg's stage kept flashing before my eyes. I knew that I had to draw this one.
I remembered that the last simple sketch that i made was of Anasuyamata based on my imagination of DAD's agralekh on krishnajanma leela. Now again after so long it was Mothi Aai only who was going to get Her sketch done from me. Only this time it was supposed to be a close up picture and not a rough visualization.
I was excited and googled Her close up pics to use for reference. I started drawing Her sketch and through trial & error I drew her eyes & face. But i couldn't fit Her crown & naagchatra on the page and at the same time I didn't want to erase what I drawn either. So the next day I started again from scratch on a new page, this time avoiding mistakes which i made last time. However this time i couldn't get Her eyes exactly the way I had drawn them first time!(Her wish, Nathsanvidh.) I was trying to capture Her subtle smile and Her pleasant expression. After a few attempts I felt satisfied with the final result.
I am Ambadnya for this opportunity because through this i was able to do something creative. Else this would have probably remained on my todo list forever.
